Allegheny Connect Project

Allegheny Connect was built to provide a central location for all resources available to the residents of Allegheny County. The homepage has a carousel with tiles of all the resource topics. When hovering over each topic, a description of the topic is available. The homepage also provides an area for emergency needs and updates to be highlighted. The bottom of each page of the site lists the contact information for the Director’s Action Line.

The topic pages were built to provide quick access with the dropdown at the top of the page. By answering “What do you need right now?”, users will be soft scrolled to the section of the page that corresponds with their need. The sections provide the first point of contact and, if available, link to additional resources available on interior pages. At the bottom of each topic page, there is a place for additional printed resources via a bootstrap accordion. There are also links to related topic pages.

The interior pages provide additional resources through plain text or bootstrap accordions. Additionally, the interior pages have demographic specific boxes highlights for Immigrants & Internationals, LGBTQ, Older Adults, Veterans or Young Adults. Each of those boxes has a corresponding lightbulb icon in a specific color to indicate which group the box is dedicated to.

The site also utilizes a predictive search bar. Users can begin typing and related results populate below the search. If a user hits enter after typing they are directed to a search results page where they can browse the results.
